Like many households, ours recently made the switch from giving out candy on halloween to giving out chili. I know, I know, everyone is doing it. We are so behind the trend. I have to say, though, that our house is getting really popular, as we started offering black bean chili with sweet potatoes. Once we started with this concoction, the kids started lining up down the street at 4:00 PM. Then the parents started in on the action. Last year, a little Spiderman said, “I love the delicate sweetness that the sweet potatoes provide. Clearly they’re from a local farm! You don’t get flavor like that from any old sweet potato. I have to pee.” A little girl in a very elaborate ballerina costume commented, “Wow, these flavors are so complex! I love the zing from the lime juice at the end. Thank goodness we have chili now at Halloween instead of candy. From this day forward I forsake candy. And all high fructose corn syrup in general!” Don’t you just wish the Halloween season would last all year long??

Soo delicious.. can put it over some rice and add a little shredded cheese and it’s a serious meal!
Loved it!!! I have always wanted to try a sweet potato or pumpkin chili recipe.
