The Tomato Cashew Internet Love Story Soup

You can find love in the strangest places!

online-datingCharlene Tomato was sick of trying to meet her mate at bars. So she took the plunge and bought a trial membership on producelove.com. She stumbled upon a pretty interesting profile. His screen name was cholesterolfreenutboy. He claimed to enjoy hiking, pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, preventing heart disease, and being high in magnesium. Also he volunteered with old fruit. Wow! Too good to be true? She e-mailed him to set up a date. He told her his name was Warren. “Warren Cashew. That’s a nice name!” she thought. She was so nervous the night of the date! But when she met him, it was like she had always known him. He looked exactly like his picture, which was a pleasant surprise. They talked about everything… religion (She was raised a fruit but really identified with the vegetables. He was agnostic.), travel, spices (they both like them – lots of them), being pureed. And well, they’ve been together ever since! Now they just have to figure out a story to tell people about how they met! They’ll never admit they met online!!

Ingredients (in no particular order): tomato, cashews, basil, dill, fennel, cumin, curry, coriander, cloves, chipotle pepper, celery, garlic, onion, salt, homemade vegetable stock goodness

Okay, I am REALLY loving this soup!!! It is so creamy, yet no cream! My only regret — I didn’t order enough of it. Thanks for another terrific creation, Soupergirl and Soupermom. PS: I tried the Treet peanut butter brownie — literally, it was “gone in 60 seconds”.

  • Ric Fenton says:

Now, tomato/cashew is my NEW favorite soup! I wanted to stick my head in the bowl and lick every morsel of it. Can I say that in public?

  • sck says:

By far the most amazing soup yet! Reminds me of a creamy Indian sauce, but without all of the cream. Please don’t make us wait too long for this one to come around again!

  • Julianne Altieri says:

  • Mary Ann K. says:

Fabulous Soup! Who would have thought caschew soup could be so fabulous? Well, then again, I love peanut soup, but this is even better tasting! Great conistency and color and flavor. Thanks for another innovative, yummy soup!

How come in thousands of years of cooking over fire, nobody thought of this ingenious combination til now — it’s fabulous! maybe your most innovative yet and totally delicious…no one flavor dominates…they all work together to create something entirely new…and really good.

I hope to see this one again before the tomatoes are gone from the market. It was so creamy and delicious it was hard to believe there was no cream in it. I loved it!

  • Rosie says:

This soup was so tasty and filling. Please bring it back again this summer. The flavors go so well together. I need more??

  • Katie says:

Really nice flavor to this soup. There’s an unexpected warmth that comes I think from the cloves that makes it really unique. The texture is nice, too – I was expecting a thinner soup like many tomato soups, but this was definitely thick and hearty. Yum!

  • Trish says:

Mmmm…it’s every bit as yummy as I’d imagined. I’d order it again, no question!

  • Kristen says:

This is one of the best soups yet. Two of us consumed two quarts in two days and were ready for more and more.

  • Sarah Shohet says:

Loved it. I love cashews, and it was especially tasty with the tomato….

This was amazing, I drank it from the car on the way home. And kept opening it to do so at various stop signs. The children enjoyed it, and I have not been able to replicate it in my own kitchen, really terrific! Anyway you can resurrect the summer flavors (tomatoes!) in this fall season — at least one or two more times?
