Nothing makes my little niece happier than when I tell her the story of Slurp, the Magic Curried Lentil Chickpea Soup. I thought I’d share the story with you so you could pass it along to your family: Slurp was a magic curried lentil chickpea soup that lived by the sea. What made him magic was his simplicity. He had relatively few ingredients but had a remarkable deep flavor. His secret was that his chickpeas were pureed, creating a wonderful creaminess that complemented his firm and hearty French lentils. His curry blended perfectly with all the ingredients. He also could pull rabbits from hats. Truly magical. He and his buddy, little Jackie Spoony loved to frolic in the Autumn mist in a land called Ladle Lee. Oh, how they would frolic! And when Jackie would get hungry, he’d just dip right into Slurp and feel happy and content. Nothing warmed his soul after playing in the Autumn mist like a creamy curried lentil soup. The aromas alone made him smile with glee. One day Jackie decided to go corporate and wanted Spoony to add lots of preservatives and salt to his ingredients, and maybe even be offered in instant powder form. Spoony cried and said that he couldn’t bear to have monosodium glutamate added to his pot! And they never spoke again. The end. Hey, I didn’t promise a happy ending! But children need to learn the perils of MSG and other preservatives! How else will they learn? They are the future, after all!

Wow, this soup was fantastic!
Try it. It more than lived up to my expectations…and I shared it with office mates and family; they too were impressed with this gluten-free vegetarian, very tasty, worthy-of-the-not-so-many-calories soup.
Delicious – tastes like soup my mom makes (which is a compliment). Also quite a bit saltier than the usual SouperGirl soup, but I am not complaining!
