Potato Fennel Without a Cause

Potato, fennel, and a gang of leeks. A truly rebellious soup!

Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead had a gorgeous son, Marcus. They had great dreams for Marcus – he would go to college, get a good job, and marry a leek. But Marcus had other plans. He hung out with a great gang of leeks, but he was in love with Barbara the fennel from the other side of town. During those days, potatoes and fennels couldn’t be seen in public together -it was just too scandalous. But Marcus Potatohead couldn’t help himself. Barbara the fennel embodied spring – she was refreshing and light, with a taste he had never had before! Marcus’ friends couldn’t help but admit that he and Barbara looked so good together. Her funky, unique flavor perfectly complimented his masculine heartiness. And when Barbara, Marcus, and his gang of leeks would go out on the town pureeing, it was like spring in a bowl. Finally Marcus brought Barbara home to meet Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead. And you know what? They were super cool! They recognized a good thing when they saw it. Bravo Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead!

This soup is AMAZING…wow. I didn’t really think fennel and potato would go well together but the fennel is very subtle – works perfect. It’s a thick, creamy, delicious bowl of awesomeness.

  • Awesome!

I wish I could think it tasted like something else, but I just keep thinking “KFC mashed potatoes swirled with gravy.” Which, to be honest, is one of my favourite foods! I haven’t had it in years, because fast food makes me feel dirty, but Potato Fennel Without A Cause? Oh yeah, I’ll be getting this again! Lip-smackingly healthy, I am certain!

I do love this soup — but man oh man do I ever LOVE the BROWNIES ! The brownies and pita chips are my secret reason for ordering soup.

  • Robin says:

I agree with Kenneth about the mashed potatoes and gravy feel but it was soooooo comforting!!! I think this was the first week the vegan brownies were added to the menu so it was everything I needed for a stressful work day. I ordered an extra pint that week for my coworker to get hooked on Soupergirl and we were bragging to the rest of staff about how AWESOME this soup was. I was kind enough to give a couple collegues a taste and now they are VERY interested in ordering soup. I think this soup is a definite deal maker :) Next time this soup comes up, my whole office is ordering several quarts :)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE offer this soup again soon! This is now my favorite Soupergirl soup. (Second, is probably the West African Safari soup.) I had only ordered a quart and finished it within less than a day. Next time you offer it, I’ll be ordering at least 2 quarts.

Why did I not order a tub-full of this soup?!
