My Very First Split Pea and Rosemary Puree Soup

My very first split pea soup is yummy!!

This is one of the first soups I ever made!  I’ll never forget it  – it was the morning of my fifth birthday. I woke my parents up at 5 AM, begging for my presents. I could barely control my excitement when they handed me my gift. I tore through the wrapping, and there it was! Just what I wanted! A ten pound bag of green split peas!! Oh, what a lucky girl was I!! Of course, there was another little package with some paprika, bay leaves, garlic, and rosemary. I went right to work! I broke out my “Fisher Price Junior 10 Quart Stock Pot, my “Little Cook’s Knife Set,” and, of course, my “Lil’ Immersion Blender.” An hour later, a perfect soup was born! The split peas made it so creamy and smooth! I remember commenting to my  mother that the paprika gave the soup such a nice color! And the rosemary – subtle and woodsy. Then I sat down and watched 3-2-1 Contact. What a perfect birthday!

Ingredients (in no particular order): split peas, rosemary, paprika, tomato paste, soy sauce, carrots, bay leaves, garlic, parsley, onion, salt, pepper, homemade vegetable stock goodness

I’ve never had a pureed soup before but this was yummy. I could eat this every week. I accidentally voted wrong so, if you can, reset it for 5 spoons!

  • Ann says:

Delicious. Very subtle flavorings make it different and much better than ordinary split pea soup.

Simply delicious! This was my first puree split pea–and it was mouth watering yummy! I am a true believer of fresh healthy soups. This gets a 5 from me.

Keep the great healthy soups coming!

This soup was perfect. I recently had sinus surgery and needed something soothing and warm to help heal me. This was the perfect treat. The flavor combination really worked, and although I tend to prefer chunky soups to pureed, this was definitely my favorite soup this week!

Loved it! I don’t know what the heck makes that blend quite so special, but it was delicious

Really good. I am now a fan of Split Pea Soup. I ate the quart myself (although not at once).

The tomato and rosemary make this soup spectacular! 5 spoons for sure.

Sick with the flu and just picked this up at Smuckers Farm’s shop on 14th. Delicious, wholesome, beautifully pureed–ideal first meal of the day. Many thanks!

Souper yummy! I can’t go past SweetGreens without getting some. Definitely 5 spoons or more.

First soup I had from Soupergirl and still my all-time favorite! That rosemary piece really makes it irresistible!

Loved this. It was so light and airy. The rosemary was subtle. Hard to believe this is dairy-free. I also feel like it must be rather low calorie since it doesn’t have as many sweet starches (sweet potatoes, carrots).
