Marrakech Express Harira

Harira is the national soup of Morocco. Moroccans must be extremely patriotic to have a national soup. Kudos to them. And what an excellent choice! I have a hunch that every time they eat this soup they jump out of their chairs and sing the Moroccan national anthem, because this soup is simply divine. It is one of the heartiest soups we serve. The combination of chick peas, tomatoes, spices, and pasta will fill your tummy and warm your soul. It might cause you to hum the song “Marrakech Express.” Soupermom started dancing around the kitchen singing it after we named this soup. Soupermom does that sometimes, when inspired by really good soup. Maybe you should buy a copy on itunes so you can join Soupermom in her singing. Or, maybe just stick to ordering the soup.

Chunky Winter Soup Extravaganza

Holy fantastic soup, Batman! This soup…this soup… oh where do I begin? It is hot, sweet, sour, and luscious all in one bite. It truly is a soup extravaganza – squash, chick peas, tomatoes, carrots, garlic, celery, onion, and a wacky concoction of spices! Oh la la! Since starting this business, people often ask me to list my favorite soups. I don’t like to answer that because I’m afraid of hurting the other soups’ feelings. Soupermom always taught me that if I don’t have something nice to say, I shouldn’t say anything at all. So listen, can you keep a secret? Between you and me, this is one of my all time favorite soups. It makes me want to throw on my clogs and dance the polka. But first I’d have to learn the polka. Can someone out there teach me the polka?

A Ribollita Soup You Can’t Refuse

godfatherDo you remember this classic scene from the Godfather? Cousin Paulie wants to work as a chef at the local soup shop, Soupernapoli, but Ralphie, the owner won’t hear of it. First, the Godfather sent over the consigliere, Tom Hagen, to explain that Cousin Paulie made the best Ribollita soup outside of Tuscany. With the Italian plum tomatoes, basil, red pepper flakes, white beans, carrots, garlic, and more, the soup would clearly make Soupernapoli the most popular place in town. I mean, the chunks of rustic bread alone would put the place on the soup map! But Ralphie wouldn’t hear of it. He only hired from within. Bad decision, Ralphie!! So let’s just say, Tom gave Ralphie an offer he couldn’t refuse. That night, when Ralphie climbed into bed, what did he find? A head of his favorite lettuce, Maureen, diced all over his pillow!!!!! Diced!! Heaven help us!!!
